    Colin Riches
Colin is a freelance artist who runs art projects in education, community, prison and mental healthcare settings. He is the arts team leader for three Healing Arts programmes researching the benefits of arts activities for adults with mental health difficulties, stroke patients and children with obesity. He was awarded a National Art Collections Fund Award for his work with long-term prisoners.

He exhibits regularly in the UK and has work in public and private collections in the UK and the USA. He has completed many public and private commissions, including two for the Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham and five for St. Mary's Hospital on the Isle of Wight. A piece of his work was recently featured on Channel 4's Grand Designs programme.

His work, often deriving from transient visual memories of landscape features, is about the mapping of an inner landscape - giving shape to the hidden geography in which his spirituality and artistic practice have their roots. His website includes examples of his work and a video – From a Place of Unknowing which amplifies his approach to art making.
