Overarching aim of the project: To enrich people's lives through their experience of the enlivening power of nature and the elements and the exploration of the creative possibilities of combining written and visual art forms. As project facilitators, both strongly influenced by landscape, we work on the premise that what fires us as artist and writer will also inspire others. During the project we worked with adults, including members of mental health support groups and school children. (Years 5 - 6). WorkshopsWe ran one workshop for each group for each season, with two additional workshops for adult groups. We re-visited the same spot at different times of year, as well as exploring new areas. Our key aims for each workshop were to:
Much of the writing and art was made on site in direct response to the place. It was continued and developed back at a workshop base. At times, we found it helpful to include pieces by other writers, artists and composers whose work has been inspired by the rural landscape. All the activities have been trialled with children and adults. They are intended to be adapted for use with different groups and in different landscapes.
